Speedo Break

Gymnast Diego Hypólito and friends at the beach in Ipanema yesterday (judging by his friends’ average height, I think it is safe to assume they are all gymnasts).

Havaianas Is Launching Sneakers And Espadrilles

0309104

Havaianas, possibly one the the most recognizable Brazilian brands around the world, is launching its first line of sneakers and espadrilles called Soul Collection. I was a bit skeptical at first when I heard Havaianas was working on sneakers, but they actually turned out pretty cool. If they are as comfortable as the flip flops, they are guaranteed to be a major hit.

The line will soon be available at the Havaianas flagship store in São Paulo, and prices for the European market will range from 28 to 55 Euros. View more pictures of the collection after the jump.

The Comeback

03081010

Ana Beatriz Barros traded Brazil’s Dream Fashion Tour for the fall shows in Paris this weekend. Smart move.

Above at Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld, and John Galliano. Fyi, she hadn’t walked Dior since the fall 2004 couture show.

Pink satin backstage robes? Check.
Live music? Check.
Costumey lingerie? Check.
Feathers and wings? Check.
Brazilian bombshells blowing kisses at the audience? Check 20 times.

The Monange Dream Fashion Tour which kicked off this past Saturday in Curitiba can be officially described as a lower budget tackier version of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Watch two clips from the event after the jump and judge for yourself.

It looks so camp and tacky I may actually have to go see it live in São Paulo.
